Our Client Reviews of Park Playa Bara
We stayed here for nine nights in August. There were five of us - myself, my wife, her parents and our son. We boooked with Siesta, which we found to be better value than other operators and allowed us to pick and choose our arrival and departure dates. We flew into Barcelona and arranged a transfer with Suntransfers - all fine. Our three bedroom mobile home was not the newest, but it was clean and comfortable. As others have said, the reps Barry and Stacy were genuinely excellent and made the holiday great. We enjoyed a day trip to Tarragona by bus, the in-laws went to Barcelona by train for the day, and we also took a couple of walks to the local village. Most days, though, we simply enjoyed the excellent beach and fantastic pool. We found the on-site shop excellent and prices in the bars and restaurant not-too-expensive. Everything was clean and the park was absolutely beautifaul. All the park staff we met were friendly although, as a large park, it did feel a little impersonal at times - this was inevitable. All in all, excellent and we'd be delighted to return one day.
This is our 3rd year staying in Spain for our annual holiday. We usually go by Dover,Calais via Channel tunnel or ferry. This year we tried the Plymouth to Santander route to cut out some of the driving on the way down to Spain.
We stayed at Cambrils Park for 5 nights then drove to Playa Bara for 7 nights with Siesta holidays in a Apollo 8 lodge.
Playa Bara had a lot to live up to after 5 days at Cambrils which is the best site we have stayed at over the last 6 years in Spain and France.
Siesta are on a quiet area of the park and their lodges are as good as Eurocamps but you have the added bonus of having the use of satellite tv with English channels.
Park was large and well layed out.The swimming pool area was a bit different not the best I had been to.
Highlight of the week was the entertainment in the amphitheatre which started after 10.30 each night. The entertainment team do a really good job most nights.
The park is a bit remote definitely need a car if you want to go out and about.
The nearby beach is about a 10 minute walk.
Overall Siesta Holidays are ok to stay with and we got a cheap deal with them at the end of August

We have just spent 10 days on this site with siesta holidays in a 8 berth mobile home this was fantastic. spotless clean. siesta staff were fantastic and park staff were great. all facilities were excellent it and well maintained and it was so nice to use bar's, restaurants and on site supermarket and not feel i was been ripped off. big thumbs up for this site

You can see from the mixed reviews that different people like different types of camping holidays. Some want activities and hustle and bustle while others want the quiet life. I think this site falls somewhere in the middle with something for everyone. This was our 20th camping holiday and for us was just about the perfect site.
The site is split in two by a main artery road which runs down towards the beach, on the right is a flat area given over mostly to camper vans and tourers, some short term but there were also many long term pitches which were probably residents of Barcelona coming here every weekend. This area had some canvas tents and the siesta mobiles with whom we stayed this time. The siesta couriers are a mature couple who have been doing it for 25 years and their experience shows in the professional and friendly manner they demonstrated throughout our stay.If you are staying with siesta pitches 1-6 are the best as the others are quite tight and parking by them can be a bit of a chore. The siesta homes have tvs and DVD players with BBC1/2 and ITV available if that is your thing on holiday.
To the left of the road is a much hillier area which I only went to once but there are some great views from the top. The large pool is heated which is a bonus and there is a nice little kiddy pool and a jacuzzi on the roof of the snack bar. The main restaurant is excellent with huge potions in a very nice setting. You need to book a table there in high season and weekends, there is also a takeaway doing great paella for about 10 euros a portion. The shop is quite good value with friendly staff, about a mile away you will find a Lidl, Aldi and a mcdonalds. One of the real bonuses is that you can walk to the beach and find another 2 restaurants and there are beach bars which are dotted all along it. Here you will also find trampolines and at night market stalls selling different things. You will also find on site a spa which i did not use but looked inviting and kids clubs.
The main entertainment area is a purpose built amphitheatre with a couple of bars. I found the entertainment mixed varying from animation team shows to dancing horses. The horse shows was excellent and the rest ok.There are sites like La Sirene in Argeles doing these a lot better. My real annoyance with these was that they were advertised to start at 10 which is late for young ones and rarely started before 10.30 and where then somewhat dragged out with numerous breaks.
All in all I thought the place was great with friendly staff and will be looking no further next time when I might try one of the sites own accommodations which looked quite good

This two week holiday was fantastic! Stayed with Siesta Holidays, which we would use again, and the caravan was very clean and in good order, always pick the air conditioning, it would be essential. We went with another family, with a combination of 4 kids aged 9 to 13. The resort was outstanding, clean, secure, well staffed, catered for everything, I even spotted a dog shower and car wash! The onsite restuarants were great and not dear, the supermarket had a great selection of food for different nationalities, and they could have been dearer because they had a captive audience but weren't, if you spent over €40 they delivered your shopping free, handy if you have bought water and wine! The saline pools were well manned with at least three visible life guards posted at any one time. The pool bar is a great for both adults and kids for a light refreshment. The tapas at the bar above are excellent value and very tasty. You are also within easy walking distance of the beach, so you can have the best of both worlds. The free entertainment at the amphitheater is also excellent along with the happy hour between 7 and 8 there. The kids enjoyed hanging out at the football pitches, playing basketball and table tennis. This was the first holiday that the only time we saw the entrance was when we arrived and the time when we left, there is so much to do here and the walk to the beach and beyond caters for everything else. I highly recommend this resort and would challenge anyone to find a better, cleaner, safer, well run family site. We all would like to go back!
Footnote: is that we met another couple and they could buy nearly 3 weeks with Siesta for the same as 2 with eurocamp. Also the Siesta caravans are in a nice quiet corner of the site.
Alan - August 2014
This is our second visit to Playa Bara. The campsite is spotlessly clean. It is a medium sized park which we liked as it was intimate enough that the kids made friends easily. We stayed for 9 nights with Siesta Holidays, we were a bit disappointed with the van this year and feel they need to be upgraded. If you can afford the bigger Siesta 8 van then its worth it. Ours was a Siesta 6 and didn't get the sun on the decking and was under a pine tree which CONSTANTLY shed needles all over the place. The reps were very good and did a great job at keeping the siesta area tidy and clean. The park animation team is first class and so enthusiastic from morning till night, they got to know the kids and were so friendly with them.
There is a nightly kids disco followed by a show which was usually very good, especially the ones performed by the animation team.
Unfortunately the park allow people to 'reserve' sunbeds with towels which is very selfish so most times we lay on the grass.
The pools are good but the attendants whistle at the kids constantly for just being kids in a pool! No inflatables allowed.
Supermarket is well stocked and well priced but there are many supermarkets near by the site also. We never tried any of the restaurants in the campsite.
There is a games room which the kids really loved. Tennis courts, basketball courts, ping pong tables, kids park, football pitches and indoor cinema which showed kids movies most nights.
Beach is a short walk away. Security is very good and made you feel safe.
Great park which we hope to return to soon, Well done Playa Bara

We are a family of 4 - 2 children boy age 9 and girl age 11. We arrived in a hire car which we picked up easily from Barcelona Airport - we arrived quite late but our really lovely Siesta Holiday reps kindly pre-arranged our smooth entry to the park with the security guards.
Marilyn the lovely rep and her husband met us at the gates and showed us our mobile home - it was 10.30pm. They couldnt have been anymore helpful.
We had a fabulous week - some days were about 75-80 degrees when we stayed by the 2 amazing pools. It was fairly quiet probably only about 3/4 full so plenty of sunbeds and often had the pools to ourselves.
We did some day trips to Salou (Park Adventura Water Park) and Salou main beach for the watersports - the kids loved the banana boat ride and pedaloes with slides on the back. We also spent the day at Stiges which was a lovely coastal town with lots of nice shops & cafes.
Park Playa Bara was immaculate really well looked after - the staff were all very friendly and helpful. Couldnt find fault at all.
Room Tip : We stayed in a mobile home in the quiet shady Siesta Holiday homes area about a 5/7 min walk to the pools and amphitheatre. Mobile home number 13 was very clean and I was relieved to find the bed really comfortable (not always the case) - slept really well every night.

I stayed at this site for the first 2 weeks of September 2013, the weather was fantastic, the site was clean, tidy and very well kept. The on site facilities were fantastic, the entertainment was also a very high standard. The restaurants all served great food. The on site supermarket was more than adequate. Also over the main road opposite the main entrance in a large supermarket selling everything need for a self drive camping holiday. The pool complex was also fantastic, views from the top sun deck are lovely.
We stayed with Siesta Holidays, our van was excellent and the couriers were brilliant.
I've read negative reviews for this site and at first prior to booking this concerned me, but I'm glad I ignored them. Me and my family have used over 12 different sites around the Costa Brava and Costa Dorada and I have to say this site is certainly one of the best.
If you venture out then a trip to Tarragona and a wander around the town and the Roman ruins are a must.
The beach is a short walk, and again it's one of the best Spanish beaches I've used
a_b_c_etc - Sept 2013
An excellent park offering both good on-site amenities as well as easy access to the beach, a few minutes walk away. Pools were great with slides that kept the kids happy. A little tricky to get a sunbed but we weren't too bothered and opted for the grassy area (you can take chairs in if you have them).
The main restaurant has a nice atmosphere in the outside garden area and the food was good, though not amazing and reasonably priced, as was the take-away, shop pretty good value too. The night entertainment is hosted in the amphitheatre and is a great venue, we enjoyed it each time we went.
The spa is good value, 1 hour massage plus spa access was 42 Euros.
The site is a mixture of camping and caravans. We stayed with Siesta Holidays they have around 12 caravans in a nice, quiet part of the site. I would not hesitate to recommend this site and may well book again next year.
Anon - August 2013
We stayed in a Deluxe 8 with Siesta and it was fantastic, Siesta reps were very helpful. The park reception was very friendly and helpful, the kids entertainment was fab; even the day time activities, my kids really enjoyed them, usually they don't want to go but they loved it. Crazy golf, basketball, swimming, games etc. Kids disco started each night at 8pm which is good as any earlier you are rushing to get dinner and changed etc. My daughter loved the animation team, especially George! Then there was usually a show at 10pm which was well presented, Mamma Mia, Shrek etc, the animation team work very hard.
Service at the bars is excellent and the staff keep the bar and tables clean and tidy etc. Drinks are reasonable. Happy hour 8-9pm so 1 pint beer, 1 g&t and a fanta, 6 drinks in total = €9.
The park is immaculate, on site is a hairdresser, gym, large supermarket, restaurants, shop, spa which you had to pay for which is disappointing... Pool was great, kids really loved the slide, infant swimming area, basketball courts, tennis courts, mini golf, blowing alley, cinema; showing kids films each day. The Siesta area is great, thoroughly enjoyed our week here, will definitely be back next year if not before.
The beach was not very clean though this is the only down side, but not the park owners fault.
Jackie - June 2013
Just home from 2 weeks in Parc Playa Bara - stayed with Siesta Holidays and had a fantastic holiday. Siesta caravans are spacious and spotless, reps were fab too. Went with our 2 girls aged 4 and 7 and they absolutely loved it. Pool area was great - slides were shut during our first week but open for second. Beach is 10 minute walk and was gorgeous. We will definitely be back to this site it has everything you could want from a caravaning holiday - top class
